It's been a couple days since I practically quit my job. I'm loving every second of my new life. As I reflect on the changes I've made over the past few days, I think of a quote I read about a year ago when I was contemplating leaving my former position. Here it is:
"If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much."
The quote is from Jim Rohn, a well-known leadership expert. I like a lot of his quotes and read through them when I need inspiration and a pick-me-up.
There's always been something that has bothered me about having a boss and working for other people. You are helping them build their dreams. They want success. And, they want you to help them achieve success. Just like a general contractor who works with a team of people to build a house. Who profits? The general contractor. Everyone else gets a blue-collar hourly wage.
But what about your own success? What about your life plan? What do you want to do? Why spend time building someone's dream when you can spend your time building your own?
As I work to build a team and establish Gredio, I'll keep this in mind. I want to be able to have the resources to provide my team with the ability to reach their dreams. Sure, I want them to help me out, but I also want to help my team. Everyone has dreams. Why can't we work together to make more of them come true?
