It happened on Friday night. The lights were bright. My palms were sweaty. The judges had reached a verdict. I was nervous as hell. The next thing I heard was:
"And the winner is...Gredio!"
We won. Gredio won.
A few months ago, I entered my company in the first annual LaunchVT competition. The application process was rigorous. Tons of questions, a video, three years of financial forecasts, and an executive summary. It was like writing a small business plan in a matter of weeks.
After making it to the top 6, we were paired with a mentor. I was fortunate enough to be paired with Cairn Cross from Fresh Tracks Capital. We met weekly for two months to refine my business plan, five-year financial projections, and pitch (the deck and presentation). The mentorship alone was a win in my book.
After the final pitch, Gredio was announced as the winner.
And that was the second my life changed. We just won $20,000 in cash. Incredible. I still can't believe it. Andrew, my co-founder, and I wade through a handful of emails every day from people who want to get involved with Gredio. We're taking it one step at a time.
With this new found cash and thousands of decisions that need to be made about the future of my company and overall life direction, I can't help but be reminded of a video I watched several months ago:
Sure, it's meant for college grads, but it's a reminder to do what you love. Do what makes you smile. What you can't stop thinking about. What makes you jump out of bed in the morning.
